Content Guidelines
To be included in the e-newsletter, items must:
- Be sponsored by an academic or administrative unit, or by an officially sanctioned faculty or staff organization.
- Be related to university business, campus events or other items of interest to faculty and staff.
- Provide a web link when available.
- Provide contact information.
Messages will not to be published in UNLV Today when content:
- Is not consistent with existing university policies governing conduct of members of university community (e.g., political and religious policy, sexual harassment).
- Is of purely personal nature such as classified advertisements or other similar solicitations. Post a classified ad here.
- Requests the transmission of credit card information or other sensitive data.
Editing Content
Messages will be edited for facts and grammar, and to comply with the content guidelines.
- The subject line may be edited so it is clear and informative, but it will not be sent back to the submitter.
- If significant changes are made to the content, the message will be returned to the submitter for approval.
Recurring Announcements
Recurring messages can be submitted:
- as a "save-the-date" announcement a month or so before the event,
- the week of the event,
- and either for the day before OR the day of the event (remember the deadline).
Deadline
Messages must be submitted by 3 p.m. the day before they are to be published. The 3 p.m. deadline provides ample time to review the message against the criteria listed above.
Special exceptions:
- Messages of lost items will be sent out once approved.
- Employees sending messages that need immediate approval should contact Shane Bevell at ext. 5-5338 or Isabelle Johnson at ext. 5-3963.
